Whats a reasonable amount time for a refund?

Ordered an A/C compressor and mount and the incorrect one was shipped for what I needed but I ended up changing the entire setup anyways. Shipped the mount and compressor back to the company in the same box it was shipped to me and they received it on 1/29. I have called a few times and been told its pending but they are very backed up. I got a call from them last week telling me it was being processed but it never hit my card. I called today to check on the status and I was told again it was pending and they hoped they would be able to have it processed next week.

They were always busy when I called to try to get info but helpful and told me they would not charge me a restocking fee if it didnt work out so I am trying to be patient but we are working on almost 4 weeks from when they received it back.

Keep my calm or try to push the issue a little harder? I dont want to get slapped with a 25% restocking fee just because they think I am a pain in the rear.

Wait another week or so then do a chargeback on your card. At least that is what I would do.

Some companies we've dealt with say they do returns once a month. So I would say you should wait until the end of the month. If still no luck, call the bank.

I would give it 30 days. From personal, and professional, experience it can take a while to get paper from one desk to the next. The guy on the phone RARELY has the credit card machine. Call them before you think about doing a charge back.

For example, I have dealt with one company on multiple occaions that takes minimum two weeks to check in returned parts at their dock. That's just how busy they are. Then the sales rep gets documents to turn in. Then he has to actually fill them out. Then he has to turn them in. Then the accounting dept gets the papers, then the credit card company has to let you have the money back. Not so simple. Then if you are dealing with a retailer, that's an extra couple steps.

In today's day and age this is not acceptable.. Just my opinion. As a vendor I would try and express my concerns with the top management of that company. (Not directed at you) but in general terms. I would bet anybody in a top position would view the matter seriously.

Agreed. Any company can cut a check in one day (ask me how i know), should executing a credit card refund take any longer?? Sorry just my opinion.

Bet it didn't take them 30 days to collect your payment!

I refund back the same day. On your car within a day or two. No excuse for this to take that long. If you wait too long you can't file a claim. Now if you are getting payment by a check that takes little longer. For me we cut checks every weds. So if i process a claim on thurs payment won't go out till 6 days later and then it can take a few days to get so 10 days.

Still waiting. I am going to give them one last call tomorrow before I file the dispute.

You are a more patient man than I.
