lt1 vs ls1

Can I use an lt1 T-56 on a ls1? And if no, then why not?

Thanks,
Clay

No. The bellhousing depth is different between the LT1 and LS1, so if you use the LT1 trans behind an LS1 the input shaft will be too short. That plus the bolt pattern is different, although you could just use 5 bolts I guess.

I have both bellhousings, will it work then?

If you don't need all the bolts to go in (different boltpattern) and if you're willing to run the LT1 pull-off clutch on the LS1 (if it'll fit) then it should work (putting the LT1 trans/bellhousing onto the LS1).

I'd rather get the proper trans myself.
