Craigslist Special

While cruising Craigslist one day I came across this lil sweetheart. The seller had picked it up from a tow yard auction and needed to get $600 for it, sold! Not wanting to loose out on the deal I called my dad, he's retired and always looking for an adventure. I told him to not ask any questions and to not judge me and asked if he could go get the deal done. My pops called a few hours later and said that the guy had delivered it and it's kinda neat...the best part is it has a SBC and a 700r4 stuffed under the dog house, bonus!

We got it down to my house and I, accidentally, tried to get the graffiti off of the side. I used a stripper that ate right through the graffiti and the blue paint, all of the sudden it's shiny and I see my eyeball staring back at me! Turns out the entire rig is aluminum other than the foot wells, you know what that means!
Lots and lots of time stripping, what am I doing? This thing is stupid, why did I even start doing this, FML!
In between scraping and applying stripper I'd play with the drivetrain. I notice a bunch of new gaskets, oil pan, water pump, TC cover and even head gaskets, hmmm. My dad would come down and we'd spend time together monkeying with and getting things sorted out. We wired it enough to try and start it, hooked up a temporary fuel can and turned the key.....braaappa brappa, wumpty wumpty wumpty, it's alive!

So fast forward to today. After being back up at my dad's house for a few months he delivered it back to me. Driveline is in, exhaust installed yesterday, lights are working, she's ready to roll! I got home from work today to find it sitting in the driveway, key in the ignition....
Feels good to drive it down the road, it still has some issues to work out but nothing that'll stop me from cruising the neighborhood. Sitting up so high with the doors open, no seatbelt and old, not really round tires is a bit odd!

Killer!! How does it drive? Are you gonna leave the shell unpainted?
IS IT FOR SALE?

The brakes feel good and the steering is tight. The front springs are soft and pretty close to the bump stops so I'll need to figure out something for that.

My brother just put new wheels on his mega cab so he ran these by last night....not really the look I'm going for but I'll try them out and see what happens. I've got some wheels (Craigslist) that once cleaned up will fit the style I'm after, I'll get a picture of those tonight.

As much as I'd love to keep it, I need to put a roof on the house this year. I really want to road trip it to Bonneville for Speedweek.....we'll see.

I picked these up, 16" instead of 17.5". I like them better then what my brother gave me. I'll spray them black and leave the center cap chrome, done and done.
