Firebird Frame Rail Dilemma

Hello all, I am working on a 71 Firebird. The rear frame rails are shot and need replaced. I ordered s set and found out they were not full length. I couldn't find a full length set so I ordered a set of competition engineering rails because I am going the pro touring route and figured these would stiffen things up a bit. Really not sure if that was a good idea or not. I also got the frame connectors but I am wondering if the Detroit Speed connectors might work better. Anyone out there have any advice? I also am in search of someone to install said rails as my guy is too backed up to install them anytime soon.:drowninga:

Thanks Don. That gives me a glimmer of hope.

Also check with Autoweld in Pennsylvania.

They make very nice frame rails and a version that hugs the trunk closer for more tire room. A bit more money but a quality piece.

http://autoweldchassis.com/spec.ivnu scroll down about a 3rd of the way down.

The DSE subframe connectors are the way to go if you like a clear under carrige.

You might give Mike Dusold at Dusold Designs a call as he just replaced the frame rails on a 73 TA. That was partially covered here as 73 Klrbrd.
