Went up to the autocross and watched and asked some questions. It seemed most got 6 runs. on average people were in the 60-70 second range. A few were in the mid 50's.

what I noticed the most was the confusion, or getting lost on the course. Any suggestions for a novice on that problem?

I'm signing up for the next one in august. Going to make some laps on 17" rims and tires, before I switch to my larger 18" set up.

Do the course walk... Hell, do it twice or three times. Watch others first, hopefully you won't run first.

I've never really had issues with getting lost, it's pretty self explanatory in my experience.

Take the first run slow, get the feeling for your car then lay the power down now that you have learned the course. It's a lot different than when you walk it, but still worth the walk.

Don't worry about tires/rims for now. Just get used to the car. If you start throwing in all these different variables it will be hard to know which is the car and which is YOU.

Just my $.02.

NP, good luck!

I've had a few people mention to me that you don't need to buy a helmet, but frankly... after seeing the sweaty masses that use those donor helmets... No thank you.

One thing I found helpful is when you do walk the track, if you have a smartphone turn on a GPS tracking app and as you walk the track it will trace the route out for you so you can get a general idea of where you are going and be able to review it later.

Great Idea.. I'll try it. Then I can go over it while waiting. :newbie:
