Speedo Issues
Wondering if anyone has some input..... I have a 69 Camaro with Dakota Digital VHX gauges. PSI harness and a T56 magnum, using a ECU out of a 2002 Truck that has been flashed and tuned. I have the one wire lead from the ECU hooked up to the Dakota Digital box as instructed for the speed input. After trying several times to calibrate the speedo using a "measured" mile, I still can't get it correct, even tried using my GPS to manually calibrate the speedo. Evidently, the trans speed sensor is not sending enough pulses to get a correct reading. Talked to the guys at AMP performance where I purchased the trans and was told that the T56 Magnum has a "Ford" style 12 tooth reluctor, not a 18 tooth GM style?? I know a lot of guys use the T56 and Dakota Digital stuff...... Any thoughts??

I tried using the E67 pcm output on my DD guages but the speed was wrong. I know all of the correct parimeters were input the first time. I ended up using the procedure in the installation maunual for the gauges to "adjust or compensate" for the difference that is listed in the instructions. I used my garmin GPS as the correct speed # and drove and hit the buttons until it read correctly. Was kind of a pain to do while driving but after everything was said and done it works correctly.

That does seems odd. What about all the Ford guys that have Ford T-56's? I'd also try calling Dakota Digital. I've picked their brains a few times and they were always super helpful. Are you sure that you're getting pulses sent? Does it read out pulses during the calibration part? The last set I installed I wasn't getting pulses. Some idiot(me) wired up the sending unit on the transmission wrong so the computer wasn't getting any pulses. |
