Setting Ride Height

How does one go about simulating ride height on jack stands?

I need to mock up tires for wheel sizing as well as determining where I need to cut the fenders pre-flare. I am running coil-overs all around if it matters.

I assume that I can just compress the suspension with a jack(s), but how much should it be compressed?

So, my assumption would be this:

1. Adjust coilover lower spring pearch
2. Jack under lower control arm to compress spring until car lifts off of jack stand.
3. Measure floor to center of hub and floor to top of frame rail.
4. Ensure the difference between measurements is within spec of what the manufacturer calls out. In this case it's DSE calls for 2.9" +or- 1".
5. Adjust spring perch until correct height is attained.

Also...does the amount of compression of the suspension at the point it lifts the car off of the jack stand change if increased weight is introduced (motor/trans)? If so, it seems like it would affect setting ride height.

Remove the spring and shock out so the suspension moves freely.

Ah yes. Over thinking it.

Thanks Sieg.
