Tire testing

I am in points a race with a kid
in a drift car with a Ls and slicks weighing
2400 lbs. I can run any tires so since I still
can't get my rear tires for Cam class I decided
to put the new Pantera Hoosier R7's out back
To run with my Bridgestone Re 71r's out front.
They say the bridgestones are like an old R6
Guess we will see next weekend.
Should be fun or wild

Tire Testing

Ran the bird at Marina this weekend with the Hoosier out
back and Bridgestone in the front.. I thought for sure the
front end would push but the Bridgestone really stuck.. they
say like an R6.. I had the R7 out back and it worked

I was about to get out of this 200 tire stuff but if the Rival S
does what everyone is telling me we will be good.. off to Cam
Class or maybe switch right now as I cannot take first in my
Osp points race but won both days this last weekend.. thats 5 out of 6
first place finishes using both cars in the class

If you're going to auto cross the car - why don't you use the Hoosier Auto Cross tire - the A7

A for auto cross - R for road race

Trust me - I don't know much about tires -- but was just wondering why you choose the R?

Tire testing

Tires are for the back of the Pantera to run on the track
at Laguna.. since my buddies at BFG did not have any Rival S
tires available I decided to see what would happen and really
test the Bridgestones to see what they can do and also get
some more time in the bird.. better than having it sit in the shop

Trust me if they did not work I would be putting them up
for sale and buying A7's all the way around and get out of
the 200 tire thing... again the bird is the cross car and the Pantera
is the Track car.. Although I can drive the Pantera a hell of a lot
better and it really is not a bad cross car but no 200 tires on it
....now I can switch the back tires back and forth
if I want with the 18" wheels

Boys at the wheel place wonder what I am doing each
time I have something changed that was just done a week
or two before:)

Donny
You mean the space in the tread pattern
If so it must be some new way to keep
the tire dot but pushing the limits
I remember when they had lines each
side of center Then they moved them both to off
Center. Not sure how it dictates to a dot compliance

I think he's referring to why your typing/posts are always so much to the left side of the page...

Yeah, at first I thought
it was all Haiku, but then
it was not Haiku.

When I go to various events -- I always like to talk tires with the folks that really know and test the differences between brands. It seems to be a moving target where everyone is hot on one tire or brand - and then the other guy comes out with a new or improved version and bam! Then that's the hot ticket... Right now it's the BFG. They have done an amazing job supporting "what we do".

For anyone that has never run on a set of Hoosiers.... Well... While they're not "legal" for many of the events we follow (OUSCI) -- once a guy has used some he'll be hooked. It's why I like track days -- ya get to run what you want.
