Tell Me what you think of this color and wheel combo?
 

The honda color is Galaxy grey metallic, the lamborghini is there tintanium color and the frame powder coat is black chrome, Let me know what you guys think about the two different colors with the frame color. Also what do you think of the wheels as well.This is for my 72 chevelle and I need to make some decisions soon. Any other suggestions are always welcome

I would go with the darker Honda color and then do accent stripes in the slightly lighter Lambo color.. Do the frame in the black chrome and all the accessories in shades of black, grey, brushed alum and muted industrial coatings.

I would get the wheels you chose but with either black or charcoal centers.

Would look sick and stand out in a crowd..

Then again.. that's me :)

I with Steve too! Have you talked with CCW? You can't get a very deep dish in there one piece wheels....but if you only need a couple few then it's a great choice! Also if you want to go with darker centers they will have to be taped off and painted as they are one piece wheels.

I looked into getting CCW's SP18's one piece wheels but I need a much deeper dish than they can do, although their Classic three piece is on my short list of wheel options!

You just can't beat CCW for price and quality!! :thumbsup:

Is it just me, or are there just a whole lot of project cars being painted these very cold, very "safe bet", boring, industrial looking grays and silvers these days...Silver, gray, gunmetal, etc... I'm seeing it all over the place.

I guess my general displeasure with it is carrying over from one of the things I hate about most "corporate" paint color selections on new cars these days...cars being sold in your pick of a whole 5 or 6 "colors", with four of them always being white/black/silver/gray. BO-Ring! Just my $.02 -R

hmm. Maybe I should just paint it red with black racing stripes. Yea thats it, I'm sorry guys but alot of the time factory colors just don't do it for me. This color on the honda is not your everyday gunmetal when you see it in real life, and Neither is the titanium. I don't like any blues on the car, who doesn't have a red muscle car these days?, orange/tang is nice but I don't think its right on this big of a body, greens not my thing, yellows is right there with orange, black is a pain to keep looking good, and so fourth. What do you suggest, other than those colors, thats why I put this up here, I wanna know what everyone else thinks.

The most important thing, IMHO, assuming you are building the car for yourself, and not as a just build-it-to-sell-it deal, is to paint it the color that YOU like and that you feel that you will continue to like, for a long time.

So, if you like red/black Z/28 stripes, then, why not do that?

Personally I like the dark titanium/steel gray colors but if you do it, go all out as Steve suggested.

And screw it, black chrome the whole wheel. A local guy here has a steel gray viper acr with black stripes and black chrome wheels, it looks absolutely evil. :D



If you want to really stand out go bold on the color. I personally think a 1st gen done in the lambo powder blue (it's like a baby blue) with a titanium gray interior and wheels would be off the hook. :hail: The car will have to be 200% over the top to pull it off, but done right it would be amazing.

I originally wanted to 2-tone the car put my problem with that is that I don't want to date the look. Trust me I love 2-tone paint scemes but I don't want the car to look ( what some people may find ugly) just as what happened in the early 90's late 80's with the bright pinks, purples, and blues. It looked cool then but now its ummm... ugly! I think What I need to do is mix up those two colors and see how they react with the powdercoat color. Steve, What you suggested is exactly what I had in mind. Now if I can only talk my dad into the non-chrome wheels. Oh well I'll work on it, and see if I can get him to switch over. thanks guys

Ever seen a car that was painted in a POPULAR color.. oh, say from the 80's.. maybe a nice Salmon or Seafoam Green.. How do they look now? Dated? A car painted silver, red or other safe colors will not "go out of style" eventually.. Painting a car "to be safe" isn't any different than "painting a car to be different".. What people often do is to paint a car "something they like" which ends up being one of the safer colors.

Personally I like using silvers for accent colors with bright primary colors.. but the two silver tones would look cool, and if done right, would look non-cookie-cutter.
