3 Piece Wheel re barreling advice needed.

Hey guys

I have a set of Shelby Series 1 Wheels and I want to rebarrel them

they look like this...

They are 40 hole.. and already disassembled and just the centers ready.

I would need new STEPPED lips and inner barrels.

I spoke to Jongbloed racing about rebarelling about a year ago but before I pull the trigger I would like to ask everyone who also does it and if they are reputable..

who do you guys recommend that can rebarrel these?

I know that Forgeline and other manufacturers will rebarrel. Maybe the company that made your wheels will do it.

Also a friend of mine bought new inner barrels from the manufacturer and a local shop here in Vegas changed them out for $150 per wheel.

hey man

I think the company that made these wheels for the Shelby Series 1 might be out of business as that was my first idea..

Looks like speedline is still around button may have more success on the route you're going. They are heavy into supplying OEMs with wheels, so they may not have interest in a one-off job. In any event, contact info at the link below.

nah I know... I hit them up with the same request with no answer.. so just like you said I dont think they are interested in a one off job cause of the volume they do...

Yeah, keep bugging the main players here in the states. I'm sure you'll find a way. These are one of my favorite wheel designs ever, btw. Very cool that you managed to snag a set.

These would look so good on an air-cooled 911 Turbo.

Make sure you buy quality barrels. The wheel industry is full of junk with great marketing. Theres a few barrel companys i could list for you but most of them are wholesale only. You can try contacting thatcher at independant wheel and if you give him your inner bore of your barrel and tell him they are 40 hole and he should be able to get them made for you. Being that they are 40
Hole i assume they are standard sizing like forgeline hre iforged etc . Theres step lip and rolled step lip. Yours are the regular step not rolled step so confirm that your new ones will ne the same. They fit the same its just a different type of edge. I rebarrel all my own wheels and have done a few sets, its actually fairly easy .just make sure you use a neutral curing silicone and clean everything like you will be eating off them and torque the bolts to spec.
Make sure whoever you use does good work. Ive seen many "professionals" do poor work.
I cant vouch for these guys but wheelflip.com and threepiece.us both offer barrels for retail and rebarreling if you want them to do it.

I second doing it yourself once you find barrels. It's really easy to do, it just takes a little time.

Dow Corning 832 RTV works well for sealant.

Yep, I did a set of Forgelines myself. They sent the hoops and recommended a Loctite product, don't recall the number of it. It was like $70/tube, but was enough to do four wheels easy.
