1965 Chevelle TR6060 transmission

Hello, I need some help here. I have a TR6060 trans out of a 2015 camaro that I thought I can install in my Chevelle. I know the TR6060 and the T56 are the same transmission but has anybody actually installed a TR6060, not the T56? From what I understand the shifter is set way back, also there's no slip yolk for the drive shaft as well as a bunch of other issues. Has anybody actually overcome this and put in a TR6060? How did you do it? I'm confused why on ebay everybody is selling TR6060s if they are so hard to install in the older model cars. Thanks.

The '10+ TR6060 found in the Camaro has its challenges for install. Driveshaft fab requires a much more expensive CV style front with adapter flange.
The shifter is a remote unit making retrofit time consuming. The gear ratios (3.06 1st) IMO are not ideal unless your car is a big fat heavy pig making stock power. It also has the bellhousing cast into the front bearing plate so it's very very pricey to redo it to accept an SFi rated bellhousing if that's on your list.

The T56 Magnum is a TR6060; however in a much more friendly package for retrofitting. Multiple shifter location options, traditional slip yoke style yoke for driveshaft, great 2.66 (1st gear) gearing, removable bellhousing, options for mechanical and VSS style speedo. I've sold/installed many of them into all types of cars. My personal car makes 1200rwhp or so on a stock T56 Magnum and McLeod twin disc.

You have to decide what your time is worth. You can make the one you have work... but the Magnum makes life simpler, has the same great shifting smoothness, a good close ratio .80 5th gear, and has a warranty, easier shifter relocation, and cheaper driveshaft cost.

Thanks for the info. The T-56 route sound like a pain. I'm pretty new to all of this, so why are so many people selling LS3 engines on ebay with the TR6060? Are people finding a use for those trannies?
