mounting ridetech coilover
Hey guys, I am installing my ridetech coilovers on my stock 68 camaro subframe and I just am not sure how tight to tighten the top nylock jam nut. the part that holds the top of the coilover to the upper shock bracket. it lookes like if as i tighten it the aluminum cap starts to cut into the upper delrin ball half. any help would be great.
Thank you |
when you test fit every thing you may have to sand the aluminum cap and delrin ball to get the fit you want..the ball does get scuffed ...it happens.. it moves, I usually just put it together

thanks rod, so should I tighten the top shock nut pretty tight
|
Its a nylock nut so just tighten till the bushing slack is gone then torque. it is possible to over tighten.

I usually torque that nut to 25 ftlbs since it's a nylock. If you ever run into something with out a spec you can fall back on a fastener torque chart. I have one printed out and keep it in a reference folder.
