Interior surface rust question?
I am working on a 69 Nova that is going to be drag raced and street driven. It is a roller that needs floors on either side of the tunnel, mini tubs and a trunk floor. It has no interior so it has surface rust on the inside panels as well. I need an expert opinion on what to do with the inside metal panels once I have ground down the surface rust? Put Por 15 over it (kind of expensive), prime it, use a rust inhibitor like something from Eastwood or Ospho etc. or just leave it and carpet and put the panels back in? What would you do? Also under the car once I have the metal all clean what would you put on there? Do I use the Ospho type stuff and then just prime it and then some chassis paint? Help and opinions please. Thanks a lot.

I'd put POR on it and call it a day if your not putting any interior in it. It's expensive, but it works.

Thanks for the message Indy. Not sure of your name. I definitely am putting an interior back in it. I was saying the car is not going to be some SEMA car. That is why I was wondering on what to do with the metal? It seems like a waste to use POR 15 inside when its going to be covered with carpet and interior panels. Also what would you do under the car?

I would use epoxy primer. Not a fan of POR 15.

Thanks Don. Not trying to sound ignorant on the subject but the cars I have always built until this were newer mustangs so I did not have to deal with this. So if I put the epoxy primer on then just leave the interior metal and carpet and put the panels back in? Also under the car? Epoxy, then what? A rubber undercoating? Chassis paint? Looking for something not real thick and heavy either.
