Accy drive and A/C compressor for 69 Firebird w/Restomod Air
Okay, so my built LS3 motor will be done this week and shipped out. I need to order a number of parts for the installation and of course this includes the front accessory drive and A/C bracket and compressor. I decided I don't want to spend the money for a billet front accessory drive and that the corvette setup is the way to go. I will be using an aftermarket Restomod Air Haymaker II, so I need to figure out which aftermarket bracket, etc. I will also need. I bought my unit before they came out with their "TruMod System" for my Firebird, so I don't have the full "kit".
I was looking at the corvette accessory drive (part #19257325), which I found a link to Pace Performance. http://paceperformance.com/i-6485405...7-engines.html While going through the description, they have a link for an LS top mount A/C compressor package. It says it uses the "Sanden 508 style compressor for R-134A". http://paceperformance.com/i-5146492...r-package.html Has anyone used this A/C compressor package and is the Sanden 508 style compressor the one I want, or should I be looking for a different compressor option? I went with the larger Haymaker II unit to make sure I had COLD air blowing, especially if I decide to make a long road trip down south during the summer months. Originally I was going to look at the Holley A/C brackets to use in conjunction with the C5/C6 accessory drive and try and figure which compressor would be my best option, as I know they offer brackets for a number of different compressors. I just don't know what the differences are for the compressors and which is the best option for my Restomod Air setup in a 69 Firebird? Obviously the high mount Atl and A/C is the easiest option as I don't want to have to notch my stock subframe, and I can't see paying the money they want for the aftermarket billet drives. Is there anything else I should be taking into consideration beside the compressor? Any input would be appreciated. thanks. |

That looks like the Kwik Performance bracket. Holley is a better bracket. Sanden 508 is probably the compressor you want.

Use the GMPP setup you have listed from Pace Performance. For the AC, use the Holley bracket, much better piece and no alignment issues (unlike the Kwik one). I bought a used C5 accy setup and used the Holley AC stuff. For the money, the kit from Pace is hard to beat. Holley has a complete kit but uses the alternator form a truck (and it is more expensive). Everything looks like it was made to go together.

Okay so I went ahead and ordered the accessory drive kit from Pace performance. I'm looking at ordering the Holley AC bracket and compressor (508) with serpentine pulley from Jegs with some of the other Holley swap parts. It says you will need an application specific "spacer" installation kit to align with the accessory pulleys. Are most of you using this one for the corvette (if using the CPP c5/c6 accy drive)?
