Rear Shock relocation kit with LS1 brake advice
Thanks for looking
I have a question before I order more parts and waste money. I have a 69 Camaro with staggered shocks. I am doing a Ls1 rear brake swap. I already have 2 L/H backing plates and 2 L/H brake calipers. I have to get a bracket made in order have a working E-brake. 1.My question is. What is the benefit from having staggered shocks to Shocks on the inside other than tire clearance.? 2. Would you sell the other L/H backing plate and L/h calipers to get the R/H Backig plate and caliper in order to use the shock relocation kit? Big note here is that the Rear Shock relocation kit and has a built in bracket for the E-brake. that was the only Main reason I would want it. If you can shed light on the benefits that would make it easier for me. Thanks much Ray My car is just a once in a month driver and never saw a track. Just trying to see if it would be worth the money spent. |

if you are going to move the shocks for tire clearance then you wont have to go staggered brakes. I would just run both shocks aft the differential and uppers mount inside of the frame. |
Car has stock leafs with a 1 in block. If I get the Relocation kit for the shocks. I can not use the L/H backing plate and The L/H caliper.
If I plan on mini tubbing the car would I have to get the shock relocated? Sorry Im a noob |
Anyone else?:flag2:

If you decide to install mini-tubs the game changes pretty dramatically. In the process of mini-tubbing you will completely remove the factory upper shock mounts and at that point it's generally easier to install a link style rear suspension. These link style suspensions provide a completely different set of shock mounts from factory and will use coilover shocks/springs. |
LS1 rear brake conversion over at Team Camaro
I did the LS1 Rear brake conversion to my project.
Basically the same as AL aka "BPOS" did over at Team Camaro. http://www.camaros.net/ With a stockish rear suspension and as far as the calipers are concerned Left side in front and right side behind the rear tires. Does not affect the calipers functionality. Shocks stay as they were. Check it out. http://www.camaros.net/forums/showth...ght=LS1+Brakes If you tub, you will be relocating shock placement. |
