'67 w/DSE & 275x18 help

Guys,

about to finalize and order some wheels so before i drop some big dollars i'd like to know if my front inner fenders need to be modified to fit 275's on a 10inch rim. I'm looking at about 6.5" BS (give or take an inch) wondering if anyone has any experience or pics on what mods needed to be done to fit those sizes? Thanks again!

Going to be tuff to get a 275 under a stock 67 subframe up front. You would need an aftermarket frame or ride tech true turn set up with inner fender modifications. I have a 67 with a stock subframe with 18" wheels with 4.9" BS . Limited to 235, max would be 245 without fender mods. You will start running into frame rubbing issues when steering is locked as well as fender rubbing issue. I am not an expert, but have been thru this.

Stock front subframe wheel backspace

.

:y0!:

I just ordered and received a set of Forgelines.
I have a stock subframe, Detroit speed arms, coil overs.
I did trim down the inner lip about half of the thickness that it had.

I ordered the 9" x 18" wheel. Which is actually a 10 inch wide wheel as
Forgeline measures on the inside lip. Backspacing was at 6 3/8 inch.
Mounted up Falken Azenis RT615. . 265 x 35 x 18. I expect the tire to rub a bit on the inner fender and restrict the turning radius a bit but overall fitment was dead on.
This measurement was taken from a friends car that has the same set up backset and tire size.

.🤓

Not just forgeline, that is the right way to measure wheel width. Bead to bead.

thx guys but i should've been a bit clearer....i'm using a DSE subframe also. any input is appreciated. Wheels are too expensive to miss on fitment.

I have a 68 with DSE running 18x9's I think you would just need to modify the inner fender by the subframe for clearance.

Thx Jason, you running 275's on a 9 inch? If so did you have to modify the fender wells?

18x9.5 with 6.375 backspacing using a 275/35/18. Car sits very low and doesn't rub at all. No inner fender mods

I'm also running a DSE subframe in my 68 with Forgeline 18x10 275s and 6.5" back space. NO fender mods were required to either the inner or outer fenders. I did replace all the fenderwell bolts around the wheel opening with button head allen bolts but that was the extent of the fender mods. To date after a little over 8000 miles, I have not had a single tire rub. At my current ride height I can just get my fingers between the tire and inner fender but they have never rubbed yet even at full steering lock.
