what muflers
car 1967 Camaro
5.3 conversion Long tube headers what mufflers are you guys running? |
My Chevelle has been driveable for the last couple months, and I've logged almost 500 miles. Started with my "go to" mufflers which are Flowmaster. I'm their biggest fan. I've bought many through the years, always on either a sbc, or a mustang. Love them!
Well with my LS engine in this car, it just didn't work for me. The drone was bad, and they were just too loud...man I'm getting old. Searched the net on youtube for LS sound clips, and came across one I loved, so I ordered a set. Borla XS Pro. They are about perfect for my taste, and very, very little drone, that I could probably tune out with an X-pipe. Do what I did. Search the LS sound clips on youtube. There are tons of them! 6.0 LS with 823 heads, and long tubes. Mast cam and electronics. |
Mufflers
We have started using Hooker Blackheart mufflers @ DSE. I am in love with the sound. We always used Borla before.

I run Flow master 3 chamber mufflers on 1979 Z-28 RS Pro-touring Camaro .With a supercharged Small block Chevy.2 1/2 inch exhaust,Doug Thorley big tube headers. They flow and sound great.http://s1064.photobucket.com

I'm running the old school 40 series 2.5" Flowmasters with an x-pipe. It's got a raspiness that I hate but supposedly these LS engines create a more raspy sound. Was told I need to scrap the x-pipe and use an h-pope instead but my exhaust guy said it wouldn't make a difference.
