Looks like the crazy stickers didn't do it any favors, but I'm guessing the new (now old) owner got some advertising value out of them.

Ya I walked by it a couple times and when I couldn't find it out with most of the cars being auctioned I realized it must have been the one in the booth inside. http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/f...pse7lo9dmc.jpg |
Wow... That seems like a really cheap price. I know it is an older build but still...

Agreed. It would seem as though someone lost big money on this car...

There was a period of time when it seemed the bidders were sleeping. Car after that was a low mileage 70 Trans Am with nice a pretty nice repaint that had been stored in a climate controlled garage the past 20 years. Still had all the original one year only 70 parts on it that I could see and only went for 44 thousand.

Was the kicker a date with a French model?

The stickers and adding A/C to a Z/28 really killed it...but on the other hand from purely a business decision, the exposure they received was probably worth it to them. They ran the car in the Gumball 3000 so from Stockholm to Vegas and then Palm Beach, they got plenty of exposure.
I figure selling that car in it's original Trans-Am theme (as when I had it) brings $45k all day long. The cheesy exhaust pipes they added really looked awful. But last year, the buyer told me they rented a Lambo for $75k and got nothing to show for it so even at a loss, the auction route was a good decision. They generated tons of pictures and some cool video's in an old warehouse, here's one I had on file..looks like the same girl.: http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/p...psur2ogwr6.jpg |
