Remote mount A/C compressor?
Anyone have any feedback on this thing?
http://www.jegs.com/p/JEGS-Performan...51133/10002/-1 It's the first I've seen of one aftermarket. I know the 42v ones work pretty well on the Hybrids. |

I'm pretty sure that the compressor in the Jegs link is a MasterFlux unit, and is the smallest one that they make. The larger ones will require at least one extra alternator and at that point you may as well mount a belt driven compressor. |
On Vintage Air's homepage there is an article on electric compressors. Very good reading!

I had looked at that one...it's really not designed for automotive use.
Had no room left for a compressor- but wanted AC. Found mine from a Canadian Company that makes them for Big rigs- as a lot of places are coming out w/ no-idle laws-So sleeping in the cabin is gonna be w/o AC unless you go electric. The BTUs are around 3500- should be fine in my 71 Vette- It pulls 37A full tilt and has a power supply designed for 12Volts-And looks like it should go in a car- not a refrigerator!!! About $100 more than the one Jegs... http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...0V12/60_57.jpg http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...2/P1010704.jpg |
