Went to my buddies BBQ for his Can Am car debute
I crewed for him for several years then he built a house
Three years later the car came out of the garage with a fresh
Lozano bros rebuild. 412 inch small block with roughly 680 hp
in 1250lb car. Lola T160 (James Garner backup car)
Hopefully a test run then Monterey Historics in August

I liked that era of motor racing. No limit in engine size and design. The Chaparrals, and McClarens.I have also watched them at the Vintage Races at Pacific Raceways near Seattle,Washington.Around the fourth of July. Today`s Race cars are pretty much cookie cutter designs. It would been interesting with today`s technology and materials.Just how fast they would be.http://s1064.photobucket.com

Chaparrals were anything but Cookie Cutter! Jim Hall was always ahead of the game with aerodynamics, downforce & wings.

Now most of the field back in the day was made up of New, 1 & 2 year old McLarens, Lolas,

http://s1064.photobucket.comOne of my favorite Vintage Races was when one of the "Shadow" race cars dicing it up with one F-1 race cars of that era.I have also watched some or the actual races on You-tube as well.along with the IMSA cars of that era.Have you ever watched any of those?

Got to watch most of the Races at Watkins Glen growing up as my Godfather was Competition Chairman at the Track

Can Am

Shadow cars are also my favorite
I have a Shadow sticker on the back of my Pantera.. and
one of the reasons I installed the Big Wing

Canepa in Scotts Valley had the twin turbo car for a while
and there is usually a Shadow that runs the races and is very fast
if they can keep things together on it... seems to have gearbox
issues a lot.. set fast speed over 157 I believe between 4-5 at Laguna

Standing on grid with all the cars rolling by you heading to the hot
pits is an unbelievable feeling

Just think what these cars could run today. With the technology and compositeshttp://s1064.photobucket .com they have today. That had their start back in the day.
