Wheel adapters... Good idea or bad.

This is for a 67 Beaumont (Canadian Chevelle) It will be %90 street but it will see autocross a couple times a year and at least one full day of full road corse racing...

My car has very different back spaces front/rear. (Shortened 9" rearend)
I'm looking at wheels made for a Corvette more or less and they have a huge back space. (6.960 in.)

I would need about a 3 inch wheel adapter in the rear and a 3/4 in the front.
To run something like this...

Is this a bad idea.... I'm I going to be stuck with big $$$ custom offset wheels?

We had a customer that auto x'ed a Jaguar XJ (big heavy car) he had fender flairs and ran 13" wide Goodyear slicks, he was fast and had 3" wheel adaptors and ran that way for years with no issues.

You should have no issue with quality adapters. And just to make sure we're on the same page. Adapters bolt to the car and then the wheels bolt to the adapters. This is what you had in mind, correct?

FWIW, I run 3/4" adapters on my TA. I got them from these guys http://www.motorsport-tech.com/

Sorry missed this post,

Yes wheel adapters, Not spacers. From the same company you posted.
I already bought my wheels so I guess I'm committing to using adapters.
Still not super confident about having a three inch adapter on the rear end but from what iv'e read online It should be fine.

Ran 1.5" adapters on my vette, no issues, as long it's mounted hub centric on both faces, no issues. Seen and still see a lot of broken studs in adapters or oem hubs, most cases aftermarket wheels weren't hub centric or didn't have centering rings.
Other cases was torquing issues or corrosion not cleaned Up prior to wheel instalation.
