Dimple Dies, Punch & Bead, firewall, and engine bays

I am looking for ideas for what you guys have done in your engine bays and maybe how you did it. I have searched google for hours and watched several Mittler Bros videos. Just trying to get a feel for creating a custom firewall, and grill, radiator cover.

Thanks, Joe

Joe, I bought a Mittler Bros. 36 inch bead roller last month and have made a few nice parts with it so far. I'm using a stepped bead to make a pattern in the Fairlane's firewall once I get going on it. I also bought a 1.5" dumple punch/die to make the oil cooler cover and fenderwell designs to let air escape. Both tools are outstanding so far.

Dave, I am told they are having a sale next weekend. I am ordering a 36" also. I was thinking about a 2 or 2.5 punch for the radiator/grill area over I had planned. I wanted to get a kit but I am already at 2300 with all the dies I am ordering.

Post up some pic's when you get-r-done.

Thanks, Joe

I almost bought the 2 inch die, but realized the 1.5 makes a 2 inch (+/-) impression in the metal. It makes for a pretty large footprint when there's that much material moved.

I'll post up some pics when I get some of the tinwork on that car done. Unfortunately it just got pushed back by another bowtie car. UGH! sharing a shop with your brother sucks sometimes lol.

Thanks for the tip, I was unaware of that.

I have the mittler brothers 36" head roller and it's worth the money. I also have nexgen off-road dimple dies. For $300 they are well worth the money for the set. They worked really well on the inner fender supports I tested them out on and that's a good bit thicker than 16g.

I got my dimple dies here https://www.r-fabriplus.com/ I bought the pipe size that work with the Harbor Freight hydraulic knock out tool.

Bringing this back to the top.

Now looking for a "oval shaped" die. I see Mittler has a set of 3 that can be bought individually but even at that price range I have to pass.

Has anyone seen an alternative?

I had thought about the "old way" of making the two piece wooden buck and using my hydraulic press.

Thanks!
