SpeedTech Pro-Touring Subframe with Low-Mount AC
 
Has anyone modified a 1st Gen SpeedTech Pro-Touring Subframe to allow them to low mount a Sanden AC compressor?

I have a LSA motor I will be installing in my 69 Camaro and I would like to use the GMPP Parts modified LSA Accessory Drive Kit. None of the other accessory systems appear to use a separate belt for the supercharger or appear to have very good way of driving the supercharger at higher boost levels.

People using the accessory system I would like to use have successfully notched and boxed the factory subframe and DSE subframe. Just trying to find out if any one has successfully modified a SpeedTech subframe.

The AC compressor position should be the same for all LS engine when mounted down below. But I would use something like the Vintage air system to mount the small 503 compressor as it will work much better then the factory GM unit. Cycling vs Pressure AC system differences. With the fabricated design of the Speedtech unit it shouldn't be a problem.

The Concept One drive allows you to use Lingenfelter pulleys to change the boost levels.

The factory compressor that comes with the GMPP accessory drive does not work well with Vintage Air etc. I have read that the CTS-V compressor does because it is not variable displacement. Ideally you would be using a Sanden compressor.

I modified the VA bracket to allow me to mount a Sanden compressor down low on my AME subframe with an LSA without making subframe mods.

The problem with the Concept one is the belt wrap. Minimal contact on the power steering pulley.

I will be using a Sanden compressor and a VA or one of the three other low mount kits in conjunction with the GM modified LSA accessory drive kit. Basically a corvette set up on driver's side and LSA supercharger drive components on the passenger side. It uses three belts, one for supercharger, one for power steering and alternator and one for the AC.

I had saw a comment that Speedtech didn't lend itself to being notched as easily so that's the cause of my question.

we have notched 5 -6 over the years and have had no issues. it takes some work but is doable
