Anyone Wired A First Gen Headlight On Warning Buzzer

The last time I had a first gen Camaro I had to be jumped off an embarrassing number of times (even once is embarrassing, but it was more than that) because I left the headlights or parking lights on. I've gotten accustomed to automatic headlights or the warning buzzer I suppose.

Has anyone wired up a buzzer for their first gen Camaro lights? Seems like it would be pretty simple, I just don't want to reinvent the wheel if someone has already worked out the details.

Nobody ?

I guess I'm the only one that leaves their lights on :) I'm worse now that our other cars turn the lights on and off automagically. Maybe that's what I should do instead of wiring a buzzer!

I'm thinking that once you find your buzzer input wire, (sorry I don't know which one it is, but should be easy enough to find), use one of either the headlamp positive wires, or parking light wires to activate the buzzer + side.

Is there a factory buzzer?

I don't think there is a factory buzzer on a 1st gen.

You may want to look into this

Automatic headlights controls, plus other stuff.

It has been a really long time since my 68 Camaro was on the road, but I definitely remember there being a key warning buzzer-sounded like hell but did the job. I don't know if that could be adapted to your needs.

I've been considering the Dakota Digital HDX gauges, so this may well be the last push I needed. They have a lot of cool add ons.

This is my second first-gen Camaro, and neither have had any sort of functioning buzzer. A little Googling shows you're right, though. There is supposed to be a buzzer. I'll have to look into it.

Thanks for the feedback, guys!

After looking, I think the factory buzzer is for the ignition key. I would find a buzzer that didn't just annoy the heck out of me and wire it in. Still, I'm thinking this is a easy fix.

I think it's easy to do as well. I just wanted to see if anyone else had done the legwork before I reinvent the wheel here.

Thanks again!
