Value of very high end 70' Nova
 

Hey Guys
I have an opportunity to take over a build for about 40 cents on the dollar on a 70 Nova.
Brief overview of the build:
Full DSE front and rear / mini tubbed / Rushforth wheels / MAST Black Label 635 HP LS3 / T56 magnum

I can take this car to a very high level for a very decent price but my concern is what the market is like for a 70' Nova of this caliber. If this was a 69' Camaro (like I have) I know exactly what it would be worth and I am in the dark with the Nova.

The other option I am entertaining is taking all the parts off the car and doing another 1st Gen camaro ...

Hi Steve. I would estimate roughly 2/3 the value of a similar 69 Camaro.

I always call mine the "poor man's Camaro..." but I love that its not a Camaro. You very rarely see a well executed 3rd gen at shows which makes them really stand out in a sea of big brother.

That being said, Don is probably pretty close. Build it, don't cannibalize it.

Yup, completely torn ... on one hand bigger market for the 1st gens, and on the other side is the fact there are very few 69-74 Nova's

So, just off the cuff here ... would a conservative selling price for the Nova be around the $80k mark

And yes, Ketzer I like to keep my builds very clean (not cannibalized LOL) ... any chance you could shoot me some pics of your car, there are very few pics to be found on line of nice Nova's

Wanna find out the "DIFFERENCE" between selling prices -- go fact check the Barrett Jackass auction results. Pretty easy to pull up specific years and models etc.

Here's my point -- you're not going to find many modded '70 Nova's -- but at least find the nicest ones you can find -- and then try to make a measurement of the "delta" (the spread) on the price - based on "how many 80K Nova's sold"?? Or was the highest price more like 35K ? Or are there some that sell for $125K?

My guess is -- you'll be shocked at what LOW prices these bring overall.

Mine is more of a resto-mod than a full out pro tourer and definitely on the lower end of the price scale GW posted. I get offers to buy all the time... but I've never asked what they were willing to pay :G-Dub:

Well that very nicely updated charity build fetched $75K ---- but how much of that was the 'charity' bid?? I think it was definitely a $75K car!

BY THE WAY --- I'm not trying to be a Debbie Downer here! Just trying to show a way that I use to attempt to place some unknown value to a particular "CLASS" of cars or trucks.

Obviously there are exceptions to any!

We all know that there are certain desirable models -- and the supply for parts and accessories support those...... and if you CHOOSE to build something else --- then who cares if it's what you love -- just know that the return might not be there FINANCIALLY -- financially we're all committing suicide building this stuff anyway - and we know it! LOL

Consider what a good clean shell is worth plus the used prices of the parts ....in other words if you bought it ,stole the parts and sold the rest would you get your money's worth out of it. If so call me ...always like them 70 novas
