heres a pic of the frame, and the rack. the control arms, shocks and everything else are not pictured. the last pic is what it looks like complete (with brakes). one step forward i guess. i might install it this fall or next spring when i go for my wheels, brakes, and tires.

Very nice
I've been looking at their stuff for quite awhile for my 70 Barracuda project. I've also been waiting for the XV motorsports stuff to come out as well as the Red Top Speed shop one too. The only thing that I dont like about the Alterkation set-up is that the control arms look kind of "weeny" to me as far as strength etc. The rest of it look beefy, but the control arms just seem very basic and weak. |
yeah the XV stuff looks nice, but as with most aftermarket companies they deal only with E and B-bodies. no harm in that, but its the little A-bodies that would make a better road course car. that said, i dont even plan on taking my 64 dart convertible road course racing anyway, just wanted to update the front suspension and make the hemi swap easier. i havent heard any major complaints about bills system, even though his lower control arms look "weeny".

I'm sure the control arms are fine....it was just kind of a "first impression" when I saw them and compared them to the aftermarket control arms for the 1st gen camaro and other cars etc.9 like the Global West stuff or DSE etc)
What Hemi are you putting in ?? I was planning on going with a new 5.7 Hemi. Another reason to get a new k-frame :) I'd love to stay in touch since this is my first Mopar build and I need to learn ALOT !!! |

well, at first i really wanted to go 6.1 and make my car some wild crazy ride. with headers and a comp cam the 6.1 puts out some real nice horsies, but everyone started thinking i was nuts when i told them i wouldnt ugly up my convertible with a roll bar. i guess i could drive it slow, but...... Anyway as of late im thinking 5.7 will be fine for what i want. the only thing im not crazy about the 5.7 is the truck hemis boxy intake or the car hemis plane black plastic intake. the 6.1 has the nicer looking intake in my opinion, i also like XVs intake. sense your doing an E-body youll have plenty of room in the engine bay, but with me, if i use the car hemi (throttle body out front 6.1 or 5.7) ill have to notch out the flat flang that hangs off the frame/radiator support, because the altenator hangs real low aswell as the A/C. if i use the truck hemi the altenator and A/c are mounted high, which requires no notching, although the A/c might be close. i dont believe youll have to notch anything on an E-body if you use the car hemi. one thing youll have to do is use the truck hemis oil pan, its sump is in the rear which works out good if your using the alterktion, if your using a stock K frame youll have to get a center sump pan. i dont know enough about the XV stuff. TTI already makes some real nice headers for the new hemis. as youve probably read on Bills site, he makes new hemi motor mounts. i ordered them with my alterktion along with a flaming river steering column and 9 bolt adaptor for my Moto Lita steering wheel. Street and Performance has alot of great info on new hemi swaps aswell. things are abit more tight for A-bodies but youll have plenty of room in your E. in the pics below is a 5.7 truck hemi in the engine bay of an early A-body (dart,valiant,63-66). as you can see i have to switch from 4 bolt to 2 bolt master. bill also has a column offset plate that moves the column over abit. as you can see in the pic without it moved over its too close. also for my year car the passengerside is real close to the fenderwell. Bill recommend i notch that area out abit or ill have to raise the engine to remove the valve cover. again, real close in my car, but plenty of room in your Cuda. the pic with blue alterktion frame is a truck hemi in a 68 barracuda, you can see how the pan clears the frame (this guy made his oun motor mounts). also the pic of the hemi engine is the truck 5.7 hemi, its the odd shape box on top that im not too crazy about, although its not horrible looking.

Cool....
I didnt realize there wa really that much difference between the truck and car Hemi. I havent really researched it that much so far since I have alot of other stuff to get squared away before the motor even becaomes a priority. |
also the car hemi radiator is different then the truck hemi radiator as far as hose connection.

When you get it in and get ready to set ride height let me know.
I had to make a bunch of changes to the Altercation unit we used on Poison Dart (the one feature in PHR and on V8TV). http://www.v8tv.net/PoisonDartPromo.wmv |

nice car. what kind of adjustments did you make? im looking for a sport drop like the one on this car in the pics. not real low, but just enough.

Sh*t canned the Altercation spindles, modified a set of Heidts 2" dropped units. Orginally sat like a 4x4 in front, or maybe a 60's drag car.
