How to get this look?
 

Hey guys, Im really keen on the circuit race look like in these photos, realise there are a variety of sizes in these photos, but i love the classic big and little tyres with a good sidewall. i want to run an 18" rim front and rear. If you have any experience with these types of tyres or advice on how to achieve this type of look it would be greatly appreciated..

I have no idea about circuit racing, but they just look like wider tyres on the rear with a different profile thus more sidewall and therefore larger diametre rears than fronts.

Not sure there is any more to it than that.

That's what I have on mine, for the same reason. I wanted large rims with max sidewall on the rears.

I have 17 x 390 x 40 on the rear
and 17 x 265 x 35 on the front

Thanks for that, wow 390! thats a huge tyre. do you get much "pushing" during hard cornering? is s this more of a straight line machine only?

It's not happy in hard cornering, unless of course you like understeer :)

Have you checked out the 'Vintage Racers' that come out this time of year for Ideas there are quite a different variety of cars,

Have you tried going to Tirerack.com and searching through their inventory of 18in tires? That's the only place I can think where you can look through many different brands to see what aspect ratio are available. Just how thick of a tire are you wanting? Good luck. It's a good look on the right car.

Does anyone know what diameter the wheels are on that Porsche in the first pic. I have 18x10 wheels 275/35R-18 tires front and 18x12 335/30R-18 rear. I have searched by wheel diameter on tirerack and all the tires I find are about 26" overall diameter. I don't know if the racing tires on that Porsche are available in different non-DOT sizes. I'm just not sure if street tires are available in the same sizes as racing tires. I would like to see if someone knows the specs on the wheel/tire combo on that Porsche. What I find is that the short sidewall tires tend to give less warning as they approach the point at which they break loose.

to the best of my experience the only way you will get a big tire like that is to run slicks. there are NO wide tall 18" tires that are performance tires 335 30 18 is about it.
