I guess Skippers...... Just doesn't seem like much of a "challenge" to buy a brand new car and drive it on a trip.... building or having a hot rod built and making the trip was the Original intent I think? Should I get a long haul window sticker for having just driven 6,000 miles in my Chevy pickup and towing a trailer? Didn't seem like much of an event to expect to be able to do that. LOL

Now... If I did it with the '40..... that would be a stickers worth of fun!! LOL

Greg,

I totally agree with you.

Nothing newer than say a 25 year old vehicle is my preference.

I was there in a brand new Camaro. Challenging?, No. Fun?, heck yes! For me it's all about spending a week with fellow car guys and seeing some killer equipment. 7 cities in 7 days, what better vacation for a car guy?

My hats off to the guys doing it with older iron, but it just wasn't in the cards for me.

If you have done the long haul, my guess is you'll understand those of us that think being there is more important than what you are driving.

Shoulda spent the week working on your project! Get it done.... THEN take it and see if it'll make it. THAT is what this tour WAS all about..... Build it -- drive it.....

I get spending time with fellow gearheads.... and really --- I don't care what others want to do.... to each their own. Just sayin' --- I'd personally be so annoyed walking a show lot of "long haulers" and seeing brand new cars. What would you talk about with the owner --- "hey buddy? Did you have any issues with your automatic A/C control keeping you within factory specs?" LOL WTF.....
