QA1 without new Uppers and Lowers???
I've been doing some research and I'm thinking I don't absolutely need to have aftermarket upper or lower control arms just to install a set of QA1s up front right?
Can someone correct me if this is wrong! |
The shock mounting area/tabs of the factory stamped lower control arms aren't meant to carry the forces of the spring and shock. I wouldn't do it because it's not a very nice type of failure when/if the 45+ year old stamped sheet metal gives way.

What are you hoping to gain with the addition of coilovers versus lowering springs and decent shocks?

Adjustability of up-and-down of the ride high is very enticing along with the double adjustable coil overs offered customizable options |

Any quality aftermarket arms set up for coil overs will have the mounting area enforced with thicker metal. Don't take our words for it, take apart the stock lowers and see for yourself. |
This is one situation saving around five hundred bucks isn't even close to being worth the risk. Sure, it bolts together, but save your pennies and do it right instead of risking the well being of you, your passengers, and possibly even bystanders.

I would not use the QA1's with the Stock Stamped arms.
Save up & do it right! |
You guys definitely have a point.
