Tire size and performance question
So I am mini tubbing my 69 Camaro this winter and I am planning on going with 275/35/18 front and 335/30/18 in back. Can anyone tell me if this is a good set up for Autocrossing? Some say that a big difference in size from back to front isn't good and others say its ok. Would 315/30/18 be better out back since the biggest I can go up front is 275, or does it matter? I could go with an 11.5" wide wheel and then use either size in back....
Thanks! Brian |
Tire size
I was running 315/275 17's combo on my car for many many years
I recently changed to a 335/275 18's combo and do not have an issue This is on a 2nd gen Firebird My mid engine Pantera has 315/245 18's combo and after some tweaking of the shocks/bars etc it works That being said the type of tires you run really makes the big difference The newer 200 rated tires are miles better than what we have had in the past I actually ran two autocrosses one on each car with a dot 40 rated tire out front and 200 rated tire out back with no issues... these new tires like the Bridgestone RE71r and the new BFG rival S tires are actually that good for crossing... I have not run them on the track as I have heard heat does effect them some Bob |
