New Lincoln MIG
Hey everyone,
I picked up a Power MIG 180C. When it was delivered, the box was in excellent shape (still is). After unpacking everything I noticed that the top cover is askew. Where the wire goes in, the front panel and the side door rub it's so close. On the other side, there is at least a 0.5" gap. This is a brand spanking new unit. So, I have two options. 1. Simply return the unit. 2. Suck it up and repair it myself. The thing with #2 is that if I go down that road, I'm worried that I'd void the warranty. What would you do? |
Did you buy via interwebs, or local?
If local, I'd take her back If interwebs, I'd contact seller and ask options |
I purchased it on the web. The local welding supply company sold out to another company and they closed the closest location. :(
 |
Could be a simple disassembly and realignment due to shifting from impact?
If not contact Lincoln customer service for advice. |
Just to followup... I finally was able to contact the vendor. They said to contact Lincoln. Talking to Lincoln, they asked a bunch of questions and then referred me to a local repair shop.
The local guys do not sell welding equipment -- they are just a repair house. They took it in and did the fix. It needed to be completely stripped down and the case realigned. They found a bad crimp and found that it was mis-wired as well. I'm rather surprised that Lincoln let this out of their factory. Clearly the tape on the box had not been tampered with and looked to be factory, so I can't say that someone tweaked it. The shipping box was not damaged either. In any event, its back from the shop, ready to do some welding. |
Packed up on Friday at 4:55pm...LOL
