High Quality Carpet

guys,

i just unpacked my classic industries loop carpet and guess what, it sucks ... it it damaged but even if it wasnt, this antique design , the low quality, overall looks just make me puke. hey, why is there no puke smiley ?

anyways, where can i get for my 1971 nova a high quality, premolded, carpet ? you know, like the one i have in my benzo. nice, smooth, not big rough loops, but smooth like mercedes velour floormats ...

please advise, thanks.

OK, another thing : did ii do the wrong thing ordering the loop style and i should have ordered cut pile ? is cut file comparable to a mercedes carpet ?

loop is what was offered from the factory. I think you ordered the stuff for a restoration. I ordered the same stuff and it works fine for me. But if you wanted a different style of carpet, you probably should have went custom. I don't know of anyone that makes molded "Mercedes" type carpet. But an upholstery shop would be my 1st stop.

wilton wool was the material suggested recently for high quality carpeting like one would find in a luxuray cars. It can be found at http://www.newportupholstery.com. Hope that helps.

We use real wool carpeting in our cars - it feels and looks really nice. We'll likely offer it for the applications we support. We also use suede headliners - actually in ultrasuede.

Auto Custom Carpets should have cut pile in any color pre-molded for your car and it's a good product for the $$

I am going with ACC's carpet for my 442, but not the factory style. Since my interior is custom, I am using the repro 61-64 Impala "Tuxedo" carpet. It's a loop that looks great and seems to hold up very well. More expensive than the "stock" style stuff, but cheaper than the Mercedes stuff. I do know that to get good carpet from ACC you need to check off a few options. Tha mass backing is a good idea. That's that heavy black backing like GM used, instead of the thin wite backing that normally comes in their kits. Also, be carefull when ordering their custom colors. You can end up with cheaper carpet if you don't read carefully about the kinds of carpet they sell.

It's about to go to auction. To pull it out we'd be looking for something in the $400K range. Can't remember if I updated my site - we just repainted it as well. It's a very cool piece that one - 11K original miles, was a survivor when we got it, bt paint just a little too rough not to redo it.
