The Mules rear view mirror?

I want to upgrade the stock rear view mirror on my 69 camaro. I would like to get one of the mirrors from a late model car that has map lights and possibly a compass/temp sensor in it too. Did Stielow use one of these on the mule? I know he is big into using stock late model parts in his cars, I know the malitude has one.

I put a 94 camaro rearview mirror in my car and i like it so far...No map or temp but it has the built in dome lights...

I put a mirror from a 2000 Camaro in my 69.. I LOVE IT.. it has a much better field of vision than the stocker and the map lights are great..

Easy to install also..

Thanks for the ideas guys. I notice that the stock camaro mirror mounts up on the roof, instead of on the windshield, like most modern ones do. What did ya'll do about the hole left in the head liner when you removed the stock mirror?

Cut off the part that holds the factory 69 mirrow, grind it down smooth and paint it. That way you still have the hooks to hold the visors. :)

Or just delete the visors.. (squinting may be required using this method)..

Steve, did you find it hard aligning the new mirror mount on the glass? How did you locate it to make sure it was centered along the width of the window and placed at the proper viewing height?

Do you have any close up pics of the mirror and the associated cable routing for the integrated maps lights?

Thanks, Josh

use masking tape. Run the tape all the way across the windshield, measure across and mark (from the outside) and then you'll be able to see your mark from the inside.

This is exactly what I did. I have an extra new Camaro mirror and plan on adding it to the Fairlane.

I got a mirror out of a mid 90's (I believe) Cutlass Supreme. Looks pretty normal, blends nice, and has map-lights. Got it at a wrecking yard for fairly cheap (40-50$ I think).

Stielow started using map light mirrors so he could actually read maps at night during One Lap. Who'd a thunk..
