My Dash & Console Project
This actually started about two years ago with a decrepit cracked '69 console that I traded some stuff for. I spent the Winter restoring it, then decided that I wasn't going to use the woodgrain inserts when I put it in the car.
https://i.imgur.com/tDzDeDo.jpg Work in Progress https://i.imgur.com/L62iZab.jpg Finished... but not satisfied. Added a dash insert from Classic Dash, but had it re-dipped locally with a more realistic carbon fiber film. Boys at TKMTZ Hydrographics in Holyoke, MA did a great job for me on all my parts and ideas. I added the Camaro script to the two main gauges and also integrated a "redline" graphic on the tach... the gauges are white but glow pale blue when the lights are on. SpeedHut people are great to work with and the gauges are such a big improvement. https://i.imgur.com/WS4gWrV.jpg https://i.imgur.com/sLITceV.jpg https://i.imgur.com/E7s6trg.jpg So now the dash insert, the two console panels, and the panel behind the grab bar are all carbon fiber finish... it feels well-integrated. Getting nothing but compliments since I put it all together a month ago. Purists will scoff but this car is a cross between a restomod and a pro-tour, leaning more and more towards the latter as time goes by. Its my car and I'm not trying to make it period correct. https://i.imgur.com/UynmL09.jpg And oh yeah... the steering wheel is a MOMO D36, perfect size for me... not too small, very grippy, and looks like it belongs in this interior.-Mike |
WOW, nice work!

Wow nice job on the console! The whole set up came out beautiful. Good to know about that place in Holyoke too.
