Sweet! I was thinking though, instead of the V-6, why not a nice version of the inline 6 as found in the trucks? An RS version with the I6, performance suspension, etc might make a nice "poor-man's" BMW M3 (like the last gen M3).

Still, glad to see it's a go!

Great idea! I'd be all over a couple turbos from the aftermarket on that motor.

I cant wait! I will have one as soon as my chevy dealer has them.

Only problem is finding a way to get 300+ hp natrually aspirated... bmw does it with 8500rpm, dohc, individual throttle per cylinder etc, all of which would make it super costly to build, and putting a power adder on would increase the weight and price to v8 territory...

And ill take a v8 camaro over a m3 any day, zero torque, annoying clutch, okay the interior is lightyears ahead of any american car but id still rather pay 20k less for a faster car.

I've heard they'll offer a V6 and two V8s and a choice of stick or auto. Beyond that is pure speculation. I'm hoping for the 303 hp 5.3 with DOD so I can use it as a daily driver and have some fun without going broke on fuel cost. I'll take mine in black with red interior!

See, now that would work well too... My only concern on the V6 is that they don't exactly sound real nice. I have a Pontiac SSEi, and while I love the reasonable power and great economy (30mpg highway) it kinda sounds like something out of an industrial chipper. Still, if they will do the DOD and keep economy up, it would make a great daily driver!

Good points! Though I can't say I don't like the power delivery or the clutch. The one I drove was smooth and shifted very nicely. Plus, the BMW 6 is 3.? liters, yes? Isn't the Chevy 6 4.?? liters? Should be easier to get close to that 300hp mark, and with DOD still keep good economy. Maybe they can use the inline on the Pontiac version (ok, so I am dreaming here) like the old Sprint6!

Because the vehicle is being packaged around the V8. The V8 has four cylinders longitudinally. I6 obviously has 6. Adding a clylinder to the length of the engine automatically pushes everything forward 100mm which means the I6 would move everything forward 200mm. This of course must be made up in either the wheelbase of the vehicle or it's front overhang which eventually impacts the vehicle's overall length. 200mm might not seem like much but you add that to the concept vehicle in the wheelbase or on the nose and you're going to notice it right away. It's a safe bet that that wouldn't fly with Styling.
