Insurance

I'm about to be finished with a Pro touring 69 Camaro build. What insurance companies are you guys using for these $100,000 + cars? Thanks

You're gonna get 4-5 different companies and about 400-500 opinions. But, I use Grundy and I love them. Never had to file a claim, I'll admit, but I love their prices.

No matter whether you choose Grundy, Hagerty, or any other company that will write you an “agreed value” policy, I would suggest insuring it now even if it isn’t done yet. **** happens to cars whether they’re being driven or waiting at the interior shop for final touches. Protect your investment. These companies are all used to insuring cars mid-restoration.

My dads 69 GTO Judge was burned in a shop fire in the last 5% of the build. It saved him 80k by having it insured already.

Do you use Grundy on both Collectable & Daily Driver?

Another Good Question would be to people that have had a Claim!

I did - I had J.C. Taylor at the time. They paid out, but then cancelled me. It was a car fire!

Heacock Classic has good rates. Never had to make a claim.

All the classic auto insurer's have good rates as the "loss ratio's" for this segment of in the insurance industry is so low.

Hagarty is the largest classic car insurer and also the largest advertiser in this insurance in the classic car segment. That alone does NOT make them the best!

We had a claim with Hagarty when the tents fell in Scottsdate at the Russo Steele auction back in 2010. 2 cars were heavily damaged. Hagarty had over 200 of the damaged vehicles insured. They were NOT particularly easy to deal with concerning the claim. Pretty obvious what caused the damage HOWEVER what Hagarty wanted to pay for repairs and the real world cost of repair were 2 different facts. It took 5 months to settle with Hagarty. Finally got a check for the damage and sold the car damaged.

The second car was insured with Heacock. They were very attentive, paid for damages and the car was redone.

I now have Heacock - very nice people to deal with & local to me. Ford Heacock is in the Sebring International Raceway Hall of Fame!

Bingo!

Had a claim (also a fire) on my previous Camaro while almost finished and test driving and Infinity was excellent to deal with on the whole process.

I use Alex Larue who is a sponsor here on Lat G.
