Rear tail light issue

i just got the rear tail light harness and i plugged it in and i got no rear brake lights when i turn the head lights on.

i noticed a wire coming out of the steering column that was plugged into the previous wiring harness, i matched the colors and now the brake lights turn on when i step on them... but they dont light up when the head lights are turned on, only when you step on the brake pedal.

Any ideas?

Check all grounds.

Done that. there's only one ground wire on this harness and its connected to a very good ground.

Like i said, all the lights work... including the brake lights... just not the Red tail lights when the head light switch is on.

Check the grounds for the headlights as well. Make sure they are clean. It may be that the headlights are grounding through the rear lights when the load is increased.
