Bear alcon 4 piston 14 rotor

when I was gathering parts for my project I purchased a set of bear/ Alcon 4 piston brakes that were mocked up but never used. I was thinking of going to a 6 piston zo6 or a bear 6 piston due to im not sure if my 4 piston z06 brakes in the back will play well with a 4 piston front. it also looks like a lot of people like the Alcon brakes, whats the reason.

Hey 732ndgen,

I do not know why a "lot of people like the Alcon brakes".
As you can see in the attached pic, I run 6 piston staggered bore Baer/Alcon's.

For me, it was the best available at the time. Think 2004.
Yes, it took me forever to build my car.

Although I don't have much to compare them to, like the new market.., but my Baer/Alcon's stop my car like the dog hitting the end of it's chain.

As far as your car, I'm clearly no expert, but if you are running what you are running in the back, I would go with a more robust front caliper.
My uneducated two cents.

It's not about the number of pistons, but the total piston area, that matters. You need to balance front and rear piston area based on a lot of factors. I would find the piston area for your Alcons and do some research. I know ROn Sutton has a big thread about this on the "other" forum.

I think the Baer Alcon brakes are as good now as they were 10+years ago.
