Maximum negative camber & caster on a stock 2nd gen camaro
I was wondering if anybody knows the maximum amount of negative camber and caster you can get with a stock 2nd gen camaro subframe and control arms?
|
2nd gens have a wide A arm mounting to the frame. So it takes more shims to generate much positive caster. I doubt you could get more than 2 or 3 degrees positive caster.
Ride height affects how much you can get, lower = a little more, plus if you have more neg camber set, then there are more front bolt shims available to remove to increase positive caster. Once you have removed all the front bolt shims, that's it. |
David is pretty close. On my 78 TA -0.5 camber 2.5+ caster was all we could get. Used a longer rear bolt also. Clearance factor gets to be the bolt length and the steering shaft hitting the rear of the A arm.

I got about 2 max out of mine but that was with offset cross shafts and shimming the heck out of it.
I'd just upgrade to aftermarket UCAs. Im running about 6.5 now. You will NOT be sorry you did (unless there's some overriding reason you want to stay original). |
