At it Again- David Carroll's Nova Wagon
Hey All- A lot of you have had opportunity to see David Carroll in action with either his LS powered 280Z or his half a V8 Vega. Now his wife wants to join the fun and he recently bought a rare 8 (!) passenger '63 Nova wagon. I had the pleasure of working with David on the design and after exploring a couple different ideas this is the direction the build will head. All the key G-machine type suspension goodies will be backed by a new LT crate engine and automatic trans. Not only will "Family Time" be a family hauler it'll be sure to dodge the cones too. Look for it coming soon, the plans are to have it competing at LS Fest West next May!

Love it!
Our family loves our 63 Wagon! That 3rd seat is just excellent. |
That's cool Flash! I had a '65 Nova wagon in my early 20s. Another wish I'd never sold it deal.

He's going to use a GenII LT1? As in, the 92-97 engine that I love and everyone looks at me strange for building?
|
Sorry, I forgot about the early LT1 and misnamed it. No, he's using a new late model crate LT engine. :)
|
Well, that's still cool, I guess, lol. I figured it was the newer LT. Good rendering, Ben.

Lol I suppose it is. ;) It wasn't really that long ago that I knew a bunch of F body guys that were fixing up their LTs and got decent power out of 'em. I can't speak for everyone, but it almost seems like GM simplified the design of the newer engine series and the power potential seems to be even more compared to a non traditional SBC platform, I guess that's where the allure for the late model stuff comes from. I'm a little behind the game, my Pumkinator still is, and likely will always be powered by a 400 SBC, but I'm finally leaving the dark ages and getting with the program by delving into a boosted LS with the Mad Wagon. It's probably unfortunate in a way that so many folks have done just that, go from traditional SBC, skip the earlier LTs, and go straight to LS or late LT. Good for you though, more in the wrecking yards for you to snatch up. ;)
Thanks for the compliment! |
