Fire Extinguishers - whose got 'em

It's that time for me, I've got a Joe's Racing roll bar mount and below is the fire extinguisher I've picked out. Supposedly won't leave any powder or residue behind and is good for electronics but would be interested in any input or experience others have had. Thanks!

I believe that is the same one that I have in TOW. I have a pair of them installed. I had to use it once when I had oil on the headers from a valve cover leak. It worked well, didn't leave a big mess. Based on my one experience, I would recommend it...

Funny timing here--I just bought one the other day. It was under the counter at Autozone, screaming at me for the last eight years that I've been fumbling through dangerous projects on my Falcon, repeatedly lighting things like oily rags, puddles of fuel, painted metal, and wooden drilling blocks on fire with my welder. I even had a water heater burst into flames earlier in the year, but did nothing but replace the heater. It was time for an extinguisher. It's still in the box, on the garage floor . . .

Oddly, I bought a propane torch in the same week . . .:twak:

that fire extinguisher is on my passenger seat and trunk. I saved a guys car at good guys using it and it left ZERO residue.

Just the answers I was looking for, thanks guys!

Rustomatic - WOW! I don't even know what to say...except it sounds like you need to get that thing outta the box and keep it close by!:weld::fire:

I keep one of the solid extinguishers, small size, in each of our vehicles and a large size in my garage, in addition to traditional abc dry powder bottles in the garage. They have a few videos on YouTube if you haven’t seen them used before.

Nice love this ... follow up question anyone have a recommended bar mountings clamp set ?

I have 2 of these:

Scott Drake Fire Extinguisher Mount

They work well, are easy to release. They are only made in one "direction", meaning that you cannot select which way the knob points. So on one side the mount is positioned with the knob on the bottom instead of the top. Otherwise the knob would be pointed at the rear seat and not very convenient to use.

I like them. They can rattle just a little, so I rotated it on the bar such that the extinguisher touches the rear seat. This can keep enough pressure on the extinguisher to prevent the mount from rattling.

You need some band clamps to attach the mount to the bar, and the the extinguisher to the mount. I ordered 2 boxes of 10 stainless clamps from Amazon and they worked great.

Small Band Clamps

Larger Band Clamps

I cannot find any pictures of them mounted at the moment, and the car isn't here for me to take one..

Here's the one I went with. Joe's Racing. They make one with 1 5/8" roll bar mount so it's perfect for DSE roll bars. It's a quality made piece and can mount on either side.
