18x10 wheels on stock subframe 1st gen.

Quick question regarding 18x10 front wheels on 1st gen Camaro. What is the limiting factor? Stock Subframe, inner wheel houses, both?? Thanks in advance. Any solutions?? (other than smaller wheels)

Thanks in advance...

All of the above

Front fenders, wheel wells and frame rails. Outside rubs at the inner fender to fender attachment and flaring fenders and boxing out the wheel wells will fix that, but then inside sidewall will rub the frame at the steering gearbox location when turned. This is why ALL of the aftermarket subframes have narrower frame rails..
It can all be made to work with enough effort and metalworking skills. At least that is my experience.... I have 9" wheels and its tight in both locations.

What size tire are you running on the 9" rim? Also is it a 18" rim?

Could you post some pics of your front rim and tire setup?
Thanks

Im running 275 on a 68 camaro with rolled and cut fenders (which you cant tell from the outside). Fits with lots of space on the inner area, maybe a half inch. So yes I think you can do 10in wheel. Offset needs to be spot on and tire diameter should not be too big. Im running small tire diameter 275/35-18

Wheel offsets

Hello I’m new the site I need some help. I have a stock 67 convertible camaro looking to run the biggest rims I possibly can. Would you happen to know the sizes and offsets including tire sizes?? I would appreciate your knowledge. Thanks

You can also run a slightly larger wheel/tire on a 69 vs 67/8 due to the wheel well shape. I am running a 18x9 with a 265/35-18 on my 68 with 5.625bs and it rubs on the subframe and turning radius is slightly less. Only rubs on parking lot turns and U turns, not during normal street driving.

Thanks for the info. Also I found some nice 18x11 with 5.0 backspacing. You think I can run them on the rear?? Thanks again.

Kenny, 18x11 with 5” BS is the correct size when running DSE’s “standard” narrowed rear end. You will need mini tubs. Which wheels are they?
