Tire mounting, forged wheels

Where/How are you folks getting your tires mounted? I want to keep my investment safe.

Tires are cheaper online but I fear if I take a new set of tires in to someone that is just mounting they may not care about my stuff.

Thanks!

I use a BMW dealer in town, machine never touches the rim.

Thank You, saw this on my phone and forgot to reply.

Daughter got married Saturday and it's been busy.

I will give that a shot when I have all my stuff ready.

Fat lip or reverse lip rims? That makes a major difference in difficulty. Mounting the tires is easy. Removing them in the future is the hardest part without scratching the barrel

reverse lip. They will have to put the nice side of the rim on the tire clamps. They just need to use rags and be careful.

So how do you remove the tires without scratching them?

Are there any custom car shops that sell accessories and stuff near you? There's one near me that has some "touchless" machine from Hunter. Think the guy said it was close to 50 grand for the machine.

Anyways, my buddy had 6 new tires mounted and balanced for his 2017 Z06 for $45 each. Not a mark on them. 4 replacements for the stock wheels and a set of 19's with drag radials.

Good luck

It’s easy if you know what you are doing. Some rims come with plastic rings around the barrel when they are shipped. I’ll keep that on there or leave the plastic on while mounting them. Removal is usually easier since the tires will come right off. When breaking the bead just add lube when the shovel head pops the bead of the tire. The hardest part is getting the clamps on the outside of the front of the wheel while facing down. You slowly position the wheel right at the clamps and have to push the center of the wheel down to expose the lip and clamp the wheel at the same time. If you miss you are pinching your tire or scratching the wheel.

All of my pro touring friends in DFW I help personally. FYI I’m a district manager for NTB in the Dallas area
