Glass first gen camaro

I have spent about 5 hours on one piece of 51 year old glass trying unsuccessfully to get scratches out.

Anyone have a good option for replacement glass? Fit and quality are what I am after

I have had good luck with Autocity glass purchased on eBay. Their smoked glass is nice.

Another option is Pilkington classics but it is considerably more money.

Pilkington is same as factory and fits great.

I got a complete glass kit from Eckler's and I'm very happy with the overall fit.

Do you have to buy direct? I haven't been able to find a seller

Pilkington Classics has a location in Columbus,Ohio that I have always bought from and they will ship to some glass dealers that may be close to you.

thank you, I found it on Summitt but was worried that summit would only have seconds...

Also did you get the green tint or the clear? Was curious if the green tint is nice or should i just stick with clear.

I bought green tint,it's amazing how green it is lying on floor but when installed you see no green st all.It it priced twice as high as a lot of glass kits but well worth it in quality.

I went the same route and would do it again. Buy once, cry once. In the long run, it's the smart money.:thumbsup:

Hmmm. My two cents LOl

Go Pilkington. They bought the company (long time ago, maybe changed hands since) that bought the OEM manufacture.

The green tint used to be a little lighter (pre 93' DuPont R34 "stuff").

The fit of Pilkington (in my 2nd gen) is as well as it can be. Remember, these cars had "a lot" of tolerance in them. While one '68 will fit like 'X" car, the 'Y' car won't
fit the same.

My Chinese windshield fit fine (I installed two), but, much much thinner (=less strong). The Pilkington will fit good, and better tint, stronger (and I've installed two of these, one broke and I'm on number two currently)

Pilkington also has a branch (distribution) in AZ, IIRC.

Spend the money on it, worth it, from a glass guy (no longer auto, but did that for 15 years)....

Mike
