After 10 years the 69 Camaro begins
After joining this forum in 2005, I was immediately hooked on pro-touring. I was still finishing my 67 Camaro project at the time....year 16 of my 19 year build. But knew I wanted to build a 69 next. It took me a while, but I eventually found a body in Nebraska in 2009. It appeared to be fairly solid...even though the seller had spray bombed everything with black primer. The quarters, roof and doors were beat up and full of mud.
So, the car just sat for 10 years while I collected parts. And now the body begins. We were very pleased to find no rocker, floor pan, or trunk pan rust. I guess the Arizona tags on the car were legit. I was lucky long ago to find a lot of NOS parts. Let’s see how they fit. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...6bd866ad91.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...a07f370d04.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...4bf22ce709.jpg Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
Is that your house garage? I'm available to be adopted and in time feel I'd be comfortable calling you dad.

Thanks. Sure, you can move in.... but remember there is no shower in the outhouse. The shop is still a work in progress, but all the lose ends should be complete soon.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...4be4fc6b9e.jpg

JD....The 67 was a project I picked up in 1989 and immediately took it apart. The car is from Texas and the shell still has all its original Sheetmetal. The front Sheetmetal has been replaced. Back then, you just went to GM and bought new Sheetmetal. The engine is a 468 square port backed with a TKO 600. It does have a big roller hydraulic cam. 12 bolt rear with 3” Detroit Speed dropped leafs. Hotchkis stuff in the front.
I built the car long before the kool stuff was developed. Heck back then there was Hooker , Herman and Lemons headers. I hate the Hookers I have. Hang down way too low. But, I bought them over 25 years ago. The paint is even over 20 years old. Toward the end of the build.....I found Lateral g. That’s why you see the Hydratech and the c4 brakes. The front brake adapters were from the original Speedtech. The wheels are 18” Billet Specialties Stilettos. Enjoy. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...764a21d361.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...de5528d47a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...4c246c37f6.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...6eb3e156eb.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...3a697a7787.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Sweet ‘67, A/C too (as is mine, but it’s a 350 RS/SS).
The engine bay looks like a fresh restoration too... very nice car! Thanks for posting the pics, looking forward to following your ‘69 build. JD |
Wow what a sweet garage! The car looks amazing too. I have to watch this go together for sure. Subscribed.
