Lift question
I found a slightly used 9K Benpak 4 post it's the narrow one so I have room for it. My wife shares the garage with me so as in any marriage 50/50 I'll be able to kick her out when I need to but will be doing most work on my side on the lift. Any opinions on having the car on the lift but on the ground working on it? I have plenty to do underneath where it will save me, plus it will get my truck out of the weather once the car's done. ( if i live that long!)
I'd appreciate any observations from someone who is using one. Thanks! |
Congrats...Your life just got easier....

The only time that is an issue for me is when doing something under the hood on my 4x4 truck as the truck is another 4 or 5" taller when on the lift ramps.
Otherwise it's no big deal working around the posts and ramps when lift is down. I say get it and congrats!! |
1st, get it before you change your mind or the Wife really finds out.
I've had my Rotary 4 Post for 14 years and it was the best thing I have done - great to work on cars, great for storage, you will be the envy of all your car friends. No problem working down low, but then again I have mine in a one car garage so Everything is tight |

I got the fourpost wide. one thing your going to maybe want is the roller lift that goes in middle. you can lift up car on lift so you can work on stuff with wheels off. love that. Rolling bridge jack they call it. its pricey but so nice to have. you get a 4 post thats stable, you can store car on it over time, and you can also use the lift to do brakes and stuff that required wheels to come off. Best of both worlds.

I've got a 4 post and by far the best investments I've made. I use it all the time to work on/store my C5Z and 69 Camaro. It makes it so easy to o maintenance, inspect undercarriage, exhaust work, etc.
As previously mentioned get the bridge jack. The jack is expensive but worth every penny. My only regret is not getting this 10+ years ago. |
