TMI Door Panel Attachment
Hey looking for some advice for attaching some new TMI door panels. it appears we're supposed to just screw the panels to the door and try to make look as nice as possible. Anyone use something other than screws...like Velcro or try to use "spring clips" mounted on the back? thx in advance...

Military grade (MIL-SPEC). velcro. will do a good job..

In my experience two screws, one in each corner, is all you need. Screws were needed because my panels wanted to ride up due to a very tight fit. YMMV.

Don, are you talking about putting them on the bottom of the door? That flat area?

I guess it depends on which TMI panel. One is meant to have the factory screw locations (the pass door picture) while the Other style (like I have And getting ready to install) have screw locations on the bottom side of door (drivers door picture).

first off thanks for all the feedback..love the this site!
all good info....i have a 67 so really two bottom screws would work, but wouldn't you get a little separation on the sides without any fastner? However i was looking at different options including Velcro, the only problem i have with Velcro would be how would you get that to stick to the door and panel and not come off because the Velcro is super strong. My neighbor used the Velcro and he used "blind rivets" to keep the Velcro pads on when peeling the panel off. the Velcro works, tight around the entire door but "rivets.....it's not an option for me. Maybe i'll throw some pics together since i have some time with my Furlough and broken leg now... Car finally gets back this month from Paint so we're almost there. |
nice door panels, so many option they have
