70 Chevelle Seats
What’s everyone running and price? I’m interested in some Sparcos. Tired of my head almost touching the ceiling and bouncing around in stock buckets

I have 2006 gto seats but theyre not in the car . I plan on lowering the base as much as possible to give more headroom. Thats one of the biggest issues with seat swaps from what ive seen

If the stock seats are too tall, most factory seats from a newer car are going to be worse. You might take a gander at seats from a modern sports car. From there, many aftermarket seats will have a shorter base. Other thin base seats can come from older cars, but they'll need to be rebuilt and re-upholstered. Old Fiero seats were made by Lear and are very thin. Z32 Nissan 300ZX seats are thin and nicely supportive as well. |
Sounds cliche’ but I’m running Recaro Specialist M’s and they’re very comfortable, sit low and have lots of adjustability. At the time I had also looked at the Cobra Lemans seats...depends on the look you want and how much you wanna spend. I agree that most factory seats are gonna sit as high as what you already have.

My plan is a sport seat from TMI. Depending on how high I sit in them I'll probably make or modify the seat brackets to lower the seats, done that a few times in the past with good success.

What about TMI? Do they offer good head room??

These seem well priced:

I've liked the Corbeaus I've had in the past, that model being one of them. Most of the sport seats will sit lower than factory seats, and you can always modify the brackets if you need more room. We installed the Corbeau sport seats in my buddies 72 Chevelle, and I had head clearance (I'm 6'5" tall). He wanted them even lower so we cut down the brackets for another inch or two of head room.

I used a set of seats out of a Cobalt SS. The Cobalt is a small car so the seats are low and work well in my car. That have full adjustments and are heated. Another issue I found is width. The floor pan of these A-bodies has a step down from the door sill, to make room for the frame underneath, which doesn’t leave a lot of flat floor for the seat to sit on. Seats need to be narrowish as well.
