S or N series 9” center section?

I am trying to decide on my next center section and am looking for advice on which series to go with. What is the difference between the two? What is the deciding point between the two? My car is currently about 75% street/ 25% short AutoX. Looking at going with a GearFX unit. Any help/info would be appreciated!

The "N" case is an actual Ford piece. Strange made their own equivalent case to the "N" they call the "S". They say it uses a better iron and claim 5-10% stronger. So basically the same.

Which ever one you like the looks of better, or if you don't want to put a Ford part in your Chevy. I'd ask GearFX which case they feel is machined better or has better tolerance.

I ordered mine from GearFX and asked this very same question. They explained it to me in depth and in understandable terms. This does you no good, but sorry I don't remember anything as it was about 4 months ago. As stated, give them a call. Very knowledgeable guys. DSE owns it so you know it's good. I did end up going with the "N" series. Ask for Fuzzy Horton....he knew his stuff.

From talking with guys building rears, the S case is fine to around 500hp, after that, most recommend the N case. If you are 900-1000hp, then that goes up to the high end cases. NASCAR teams used the N case for years with 800hp.

Thanks for all of the info. After talking to GearFX, I ended up going with their center section (N series) to go with my new DSE setup. Can’t wait to drive it!

I figured if you called them, you'd buy from them. They know their stuff and have great customer service. That was my experience.

Weird, I called GearFX after talking to Alex at DSE, and talked to Fuzzy, and never got a call back...Still waiting on that quote...

The Strange Pro HD and S-trac is already installed in my car now...

I asked the same question while ordering my third member from Gearfx yesterday, the main difference is the S series has 3.062" bearings and the N series has 3.250" bearings.

While the S series is rated at 650 hp for street cars, they recommend the N series for anyone that will do any on track activities.

Definitely get the larger bearings. If you want to upgrade to 35spline down the road, it doesn’t fit the smaller bearing center. Ask me how i know.......
