72 Chevelle- Need help deciding coil over setup
I'm wanting to upgrade to a coil over setup, but not sure which route to take. The car will be 75% street performance, with a few autocross days here and there.
My other fun car is a Porsche Carrera S, so I know what performance driving feels like (Yes Yes, I know the Chevelle is not going to drive like the Porsche) just looking for input from those with experience with the coil over setups mentioned below. I'm Looking at (open to others, but these seem to be of high quality) -QA-1, -Detroit Speed -UMI. I like Detroit speed because of the swivel-link design and the rear sway bar attaches to frame and axel rather than to the lower trailing arms. the cost is higher because the name and JRI shocks that they use What are you guys running... I want a really good handling car but still comfortable to take trips etc.. |
Check out www.speedtechperformance.com
I have their stuff for my 69 Camaro and the parts look great and are proven also. John |
I have the speedtech coilover setup in my car now, Its a nice kit in the front. The rear is alright, Im not a total fan of single sheer shock mounting but it works. Its personal preference. Ridetech makes a nice kit, just a little more bulky.

How who you rate the ride quality? Is your car a cruiser or street performance? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Why do so many guys recommend parts they have zero miles on?

Global West weld-in coilover setup In front and a custom built coilover setup in the rear. RideTech HQ custom valved shocks. 600lb front springs, 125lb rear springs. DSE sway bars front and rear. Car rides excellant and drives even better.

Why? How the top of a coilover mounts in a chevelle is nearly the same with every company, weld it or bolt in/weld in. Exact same outcome. Why? Because Viking Coilovers have been proven in nearly every aspect of motorsports. Why? Ive ran the same spring rates before, I know how the car worked. Why? If you google searched and looked at the offerings, youd understand its all the exact same extent and cannot change the functionality, just the appearance. Pretty simple :) |
